Severe weather information you should know


During and after severe weather, some of the most frequent emergencies are:

  • Downed Trees on the roadways
  • Downed Power Lines – DO NOT APPOACH, CALL 911
  • Fires as a result of powerlines and transformers sparking and lighting trees on fire.
  • Trees falling on houses
  • Vehicles under water – Turn around don’t drown 
  • Car accidents

 If your power goes out, call your power company directly – NOT 911

 Debris removal on personal property including trees

  • This is the responsibility of the homeowner 

 Debris Reporting

If you encounter tree debris on the roads blocking access, please call 911 to inform them so they can rearrange routes for emergency responders.

Also call the appropriate dept(s) listed below:

  • City Streets - contact the city garage 270-831-1234
  • Highways - If you are on a numbered highway, (Hwy 41, Hwy 60…) contact the Department of Transportation - 270-826-4145
  • County Roads, contact the Road Dept - 270-826-8843
